Hipsburn is a small, largely rural settlement on the east coast of Northumberland in England, sitting close to the mouth of the Aln and within easy reach of the village of Alnmouth and the market town of Alnwick. The setting is quietly coastal and agricultural, with open farmland, saltmarsh and sandy beaches nearby, and lots of appeal for walkers, birdwatchers and people seeking a quieter base on the Northumberland coast.
Historically the area has strong links to estate farming and the rhythms of rural life, while today the local economy is bolstered by tourism and holiday lets that take advantage of the scenery and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Social and cultural life tends to centre on neighbouring villages and towns - visitors often combine a stay here with trips to local attractions such as Alnwick Castle, coastal walks and the local pubs and small shops.
