Alnmouth is a small coastal village and civil parish in Northumberland, sited where the River Aln meets the North Sea. The setting is notable for a wide sandy beach, dunes and an estuary that attracts migrants and waders, making it a favourite with birdwatchers and walkers along the Northumberland coast. The low-lying harbour and attractive rows of Georgian and Victorian houses give the place a peaceful, seaside character.
Historically it grew as the port serving nearby Alnwick and later as a Victorian resort, and today the local economy is largely driven by tourism alongside small-scale fishing and agriculture. A functioning railway station on the main line makes Alnmouth a convenient weekend escape from cities such as Newcastle, and the village retains a tight-knit community feel with cafes, pubs, galleries and seasonal events that reflect its maritime and rural roots.
