Linby is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England, a few miles north‑west of Nottingham and close to Hucknall and Papplewick. It sits in a gentle landscape of farmland and wooded valleys and has a compact historic core of stone cottages and a parish church with medieval origins, much of the settlement falling within a conservation area.
Historically agricultural, the community was later shaped by the wider Nottinghamshire coalfield and sits near Victorian industrial landmarks such as Papplewick Pumping Station. Today Linby retains a strong village atmosphere with a pub, village hall and local events, and is popular with walkers and commuters who value its rural character and easy access to nearby towns.
