Hook Norton is a large historic village and civil parish in the district of Cherwell, in north Oxfordshire, England, sitting on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village retains a strongly rural character with traditional stone and ironstone buildings, footpaths and hedged lanes that make it a popular base for walkers and visitors exploring the surrounding countryside.
It’s best known for the still-working traditional Hook Norton Brewery with its distinctive tower mill and Victorian brewery buildings, a notable local employer and visitor attraction, and for the nearby former railway cutting, the Hook Norton Cutting and Banks SSSI, valued for its geology and wildlife. The village has a lively community life centred on pubs, a village shop, a primary school and local societies, and lies within easy reach of market towns such as Banbury and Chipping Norton.
