Harpsden is a small, largely rural parish in South Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, sitting just south of Henley-on-Thames on the scarp of the Chiltern Hills. The landscape is a mix of farmland and ancient beech woodlands, including the well-regarded Harpsden Wood, and it looks down towards the River Thames valley, making it popular with walkers and nature lovers. Much of the surrounding countryside forms part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, giving the area a strong sense of tranquillity and scenic value.
The village has medieval roots and a quiet, residential character with a number of historic houses and traditional buildings; economically it leans on agriculture, local services and commuters travelling to nearby towns and to London. Socially and culturally it has close ties with Henley-on-Thames - notably the town’s rowing and community events - and retains a small‑community feel despite its convenient connections and attractive countryside setting.
