West Hagbourne is a small village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England, lying just a couple of miles south‑east of Didcot close to the old Berkshire border. Set among rolling farmland and orchards on chalky soils beside the little Hagbourne Brook, the settlement has medieval origins and retains several historic cottages and farmhouses; it was part of Berkshire until the 1974 local government reorganisation.
Today West Hagbourne is a quiet, close‑knit rural community that relies on nearby Didcot for shops and rail links and benefits from employment at nearby science and business hubs such as Harwell and Milton Park. Many residents commute to Oxford or Reading, so while the village keeps its agricultural character and local events, it also functions as a commuter‑friendly pocket with a strong sense of local history.
