Brampton Bierlow is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. Situated in the Dearne Valley between Barnsley and Rotherham, it occupies part of the old South Yorkshire coalfield and sits at the rural–urban fringe with a mix of housing, small green spaces and easy commuter links to Sheffield and Doncaster.
The community has a strong mining heritage and, like many former pit villages, has seen economic change since the late 20th century with pockets of regeneration, local clubs, churches and community projects playing an important role. Remnants of the industrial past are still visible in the landscape and local memory, while newer enterprises and housing reflect a gradual shift towards a more diverse, outward-looking local economy.
