Hemingfield is a small village on the edge of Wombwell in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. It sits in the Dearne Valley, close to the industrial heritage sites of nearby Elsecar, and has a compact, residential character while being within easy reach of larger towns and cities.
Historically the village grew up around coal mining and the landscape still reflects that industrial past, but recent decades have brought regeneration, green corridors and more leisure walking routes. Local life is largely community-oriented and commuter-friendly, with many residents travelling to Barnsley or Sheffield for work, while the village’s history and rural edges make it attractive to those interested in South Yorkshire's industrial heritage.
