North Anston is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, lying close to the Nottinghamshire border and within easy reach of Sheffield. It forms one half of the local settlements known as the Anstons and is largely residential, popular with commuters while still keeping a village atmosphere.
The area is notable for its limestone landscape and the small but important nature reserve Anston Stones Wood, valued for its grassland, woodland and geology; historically the village grew up around stone-working and quarrying. Today the community supports local schools, shops and clubs, and mixes older cottages with more recent housing, reflecting its shift from an industrial past to a largely commuter and family-focused place.
