Broseley sits in the steep, wooded valley of the River Severn in south-west Shropshire, tucked into the landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge. Its streets and terraced houses still reflect a town shaped by mining and clay extraction, with a mix of old industrial sites, limekilns and quarry faces giving way to riverside footpaths and views that attract walkers and heritage visitors.
Historically important in the Industrial Revolution for ironworking, coal and especially clay tobacco-pipe and tile manufacture, Broseley retains strong local pride and active history groups, small independent shops and pubs. Today it functions partly as a commuter settlement for nearby Telford while also benefiting from tourism linked to the gorge and nearby preserved industrial sites in places such as Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge.
