Weston Rhyn is a small village in north‑west Shropshire, close to the border with Wales and a few miles from the market town of Oswestry. It sits on the edge of the Shropshire–Wales borderlands, within easy reach of the scenic Ceiriog Valley and the canal and aqueduct landscape around the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, so countryside walking and canal‑side visits are popular pastimes.
The village grew significantly in the 19th century with quarrying and other local industry, and traces of that industrial past and associated railway links remain in the area. Today Weston Rhyn is largely residential, with many people commuting to nearby centres such as Wrexham, Chester and Shrewsbury, and it retains a strong community feel with local clubs, pubs and village facilities serving residents and visitors to the border region.
