Whittington is a small village in north Shropshire, just a few miles from Oswestry and the Welsh border. It is best known for Whittington Castle, a medieval motte-and-bailey site with later stonework and restored gardens that reflects the village’s Marcher lord history; the castle and its grounds draw local visitors and occasional heritage events that underline the area’s long history.
Geographically the village sits on the edge of the Welsh Marches with views towards the Berwyn Hills and the Shropshire Hills and easy access to walks along Offa's Dyke. The local economy remains largely rural, based on farming with some tourism and commuter links to nearby towns, and the community is typical of small Shropshire parishes with a church, village hall and occasional local events that keep a strong village spirit.
