Balsall Common is a large village in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands, England. It developed from scattered hamlets into a popular commuter settlement through the 20th century and sits in the green-belt Meriden Gap between Birmingham and Coventry, which gives it a semi-rural feel while still offering good road and rail links to nearby cities.
Today the village combines a busy high street of shops and pubs with sports clubs, primary schools and active community groups; the local economy is largely residential with small businesses serving families and commuters. There are older farmsteads and links to nearby historic villages such as Berkswell and the old county of Warwickshire, so residents enjoy a mix of suburban convenience and countryside character, plus regular local events and residents’ associations.
