Hockley Heath is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, sitting on the edge of the West Midlands and historically within Warwickshire. It occupies a pleasant position beside the A34 and close to the M40, which has helped it become a commuter-friendly settlement for people working in Birmingham, Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon. The village grew up as a coaching stop on the road between Birmingham and Stratford, and today retains a village green and a conservation area with a mix of older cottages and later suburban development.
Local life is quietly active: the parish has a village hall, a primary school, pubs, sports clubs and community groups, and the economy is made up mainly of small local businesses alongside agricultural and equestrian enterprises in the surrounding countryside. The area’s hedgerows, bridleways and fields give it a strongly rural feel despite good road links, and there is no station in the village itself - nearest rail links are at Dorridge and Lapworth - so community events and clubs remain important in binding the place together.
