Brent Knoll is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, set at the foot of a striking isolated hill that rises to about 137 metres and dominates the surrounding Somerset Levels. The hill is an unmistakable local landmark visible from the Bristol Channel and bears the remains of an Iron Age hillfort and later occupation, so it attracts walkers and anyone interested in local history.
Life in Brent Knoll is largely rural and agricultural, with a close-knit community, a village hall and the sort of amenities that serve local residents and visitors; there is also a modest commuter presence thanks to good road links, being near the M5 and towns such as Highbridge, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater. The combination of panoramic views, heritage and quiet country living makes it popular with walkers, history enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil base in the Levels.
