The small rural parish of Cutcombe lies on the southern edge of Exmoor National Park in west Somerset, England, a few miles inland from the coastal town of Minehead. The area centres on the village of Wheddon Cross and is characterised by heather moorland, rolling fields and pockets of ancient woodland, offering wide vistas popular with walkers and wildlife watchers.
Locally the economy is largely centred on hill farming, forestry and small-scale tourism - holiday cottages, B&Bs and outdoor pursuits bring visitors in summer - while historic field patterns, old tracks and traditional stone cottages hint at medieval and earlier roots. Community life is small-scale and neighbourly, with village events, a parish hall and a local pub providing focal points for residents and visitors alike.
