Selworthy is a small village and civil parish tucked into the northern edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, close to the coastal hamlets of Bossington and Porlock. Perched above Porlock Bay, the area is dominated by moorland and a prominent hill, Selworthy Beacon, which gives excellent views over the Bristol Channel and the surrounding heather-clad hills.
The village is best known for its picturesque row of thatched cottages and simple village green, many of which are in National Trust care and reflect the estate influence of the Acland family. Locally the economy and social life are shaped by agriculture and tourism, with walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and those seeking a quiet rural escape drawn to the historic lanes, ancient commons and the strong sense of traditional community here.
