Mells sits in the Frome valley in Somerset, a few miles north of Frome on the edge of the Mendip Hills. The village is set among rolling limestone countryside and small river valleys and is admired for its honey‑coloured stone cottages, narrow lanes and the parkland that surrounds several large country houses.
Historically the settlement grew around estates and a parish church, and features buildings such as Mells Manor, Mells Park and St Andrew's Church that give it a notably well‑preserved character. Today it remains a small rural community dependent on farming, local trades and a modest level of tourism for its shops, pubs and garden openings, while village events and an active local scene keep social life lively.
