Shipham is a small village and civil parish on the western flank of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, England, sitting beneath the high ridge of Black Down with views towards the Bristol Channel. Its steep limestone slopes give fine walking country and convenient access to routes such as the Mendip Way, and it lies a few miles from Cheddar and Axbridge.
Historically the settlement grew around lead and ochre mining and small-scale quarrying, with visible remnants of shafts and spoil heaps still part of the local landscape. Today agriculture, conservation and rural tourism are important to the economy, while a close-knit community, village facilities and active local groups help preserve the area's character and heritage.
