Kinver is a large village and civil parish in South Staffordshire, Staffordshire, England, sitting on the rural edge of the West Midlands conurbation a short drive from Stourbridge, Kidderminster and within commuting distance of Birmingham. It combines a settled village centre of shops, pubs and community life with a largely residential economy, while retaining a feeling of countryside living thanks to surrounding farmland and woodlands.
The village is best known for Kinver Edge, a dramatic sandstone ridge managed by the National Trust with heathland, beech wood and the famous carved rock houses that were occupied into the mid-20th century. The ridge overlooks the valley of the River Stour and offers popular walking and cycling routes with wide views towards the Severn Valley, making tourism and outdoor recreation important to the local character. Historically the area mixed agriculture with small-scale local industry, and today that heritage sits alongside a commuter and visitor economy.
