Ipstones

Ipstones is a small village in the Staffordshire Moorlands district of Staffordshire, sitting close to the southern fringe of the Peak District. It perches near the gritstone escarpment known as Ipstones Edge, which gives sweeping views across the surrounding moorland and down to the Cheshire and Stoke-on-Trent areas on clear days. The settlement is characterised by stone-built cottages and lanes, with a long rural history shaped by agriculture and local quarrying and mineral workings.

Today Ipstones retains a quiet, close-knit feel and attracts walkers and outdoor enthusiasts because of the plentiful footpaths and open moor. The local economy remains largely agricultural with some small businesses and visitors supporting village facilities; many residents also commute to nearby towns such as Leek and Stoke-on-Trent.
