Hintlesham is a small village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England, set in gently rolling agricultural countryside a short drive from Ipswich and Hadleigh. It forms part of the combined parish of Hintlesham and Chattisham, and retains a rural, low‑density feel with lanes, farms and pockets of woodland rather than any large centre of population.
Historically the village has medieval roots and several listed buildings, the most notable being Hintlesham Hall, a former manor house now run as a hotel and restaurant, and the church of St Nicolas with older fabric and local memorials. The local economy is largely agricultural with some small businesses and hospitality linked to the hall, while socially it’s a close‑knit community typical of Suffolk villages, with village events and commuting links into nearby towns.
