Tattingstone is a small village and civil parish in the district of Babergh, in Suffolk, England, set beside the meandering River Brett and within easy reach of Ipswich. The parish is notable for the large lake created from former gravel workings, often called Tattingstone Reservoir, which has become a local focus for sailing, fishing and wildlife and gives the otherwise agricultural landscape a distinctive waterfront character.
The village is best known for the quirky local landmark, the Tattingstone Wonder, a folly that gives the hamlet an eccentric historic touch, and there is a small medieval church and evidence of a long farming history. Today it mixes rural life with a commuter element, with an active community around the sailing club, village hall and seasonal visitors drawn by the watersports and riverside countryside.
