Capel St. Mary is a sizeable village and civil parish in the district of Babergh, Suffolk, England, lying a few miles south of Ipswich. It has a historic parish church and long agricultural roots, but expanded through the 20th century into a predominantly residential, commuter-friendly community of a few thousand people set among farmland and pockets of woodland.
Local life centres on a village hall, primary school, a handful of shops and pubs, active sports clubs and regular community events; there are also small businesses and light industrial units nearby, so the village combines a degree of self-sufficiency with strong links to nearby towns. Its countryside setting makes it popular with walkers and families while its historic character and community spirit remain notable.
