Hollesley is a coastal village and civil parish in East Suffolk, a few miles east of Woodbridge and close to the shingle spit and nature reserve of Orford Ness. The surrounding landscape mixes low-lying farmland, salt marsh and coastal heath typical of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, so it’s popular with walkers and birdwatchers enjoying estuary views and long coastal walks.
Locally the economy leans on agriculture and small-scale tourism, with Hollesley Bay prison a notable employer and element of recent history. The village keeps a close-knit feel, with a village hall, a pub and parish activities that give visitors a taste of traditional Suffolk village life alongside easy access to wildlife and coastal scenery.
