Kessingland is a compact coastal village in East Suffolk, a few miles south of Lowestoft. It has a long shingle and sandy seafront backed by caravan parks and low-lying marshland, with coastal paths that are popular with walkers, families and birdwatchers and a seafront whose fortunes are shaped by erosion and sea‑defence work.
Historically a small fishing and farming community, Kessingland today combines tourism with commuter households and local services; the holiday industry and caravan parks are important to the local economy. The village retains a close-knit social feel with village halls, pubs and community events that reflect the broader character of the Suffolk coast and its natural reserves.
