Culford sits in rural West Suffolk, in the county of Suffolk, England, a few miles south‑west of Bury St Edmunds. The village is set around the extensive grounds of Culford Park, with parkland, lakes and stretches of the River Lark, surrounded by arable farmland and hedgerows that give it a distinctly pastoral character.
The estate is dominated by Culford Hall, much of which is now occupied by Culford School, and the school and hall provide a measurable cultural and economic pulse as local employer and events venue. The settlement retains a historic parish church and several listed buildings, and despite its rural feel functions partly as a commuter village with good road links (near the A14), while agriculture, school life and community activities remain at its heart.
