Westhumble is a small hamlet in the district of Mole Valley, in Surrey, England, sitting on the lower slopes of the North Downs beneath Box Hill and overlooking the valley of the River Mole. It lies on the eastern edge of Dorking and within the Surrey Hills AONB, so its character is strongly shaped by chalk escarpments, woodland and well‑used walking routes such as stretches of the Pilgrims' Way.
Today Westhumble is largely residential with a handful of historic cottages, a small station at Box Hill & Westhumble that makes it popular with commuters and day‑visitors from London, and an economy bolstered by tourism - walkers, cyclists and nature lovers who come for Box Hill (notably used in the 2012 Olympic road race) and the National Trust countryside. The village retains a quiet, close‑knit feel while serving as a gateway to some of Surrey’s most visited countryside.
