Great Bookham and Fetcham are neighbouring villages in the Mole Valley district of Surrey, England, sitting on the gentle slopes and floodplain of the River Mole. They lie just west of Leatherhead and not far from Dorking, forming part of the prosperous commuter belt into London and served locally by Bookham railway station.
Both settlements have medieval roots with surviving period buildings and a mix of village greens, commons and protected green belt countryside - Bookham Common being a well‑used local nature spot - which gives them a semi‑rural character despite good transport links. The local economy is largely residential and service‑based with small shops, pubs, schools and active community groups; the area’s attractive lanes, historic cottages and nearby Surrey Hills countryside make it popular with families, walkers and equestrian interests.
