Whyteleafe is a compact village and civil parish in the district of Tandridge, Surrey, England, set on the scarp of the North Downs between Caterham and Purley. Its steep, tree-lined streets give good views over the surrounding chalk countryside and the village benefits from rail links into London, which have long shaped its character as a commuter-focused community.
Originally expanding with the arrival of the railways in the late Victorian and Edwardian period and with nearby quarrying activity, the area today is largely residential with local shops, small businesses and an active community life centred on sports clubs and village organisations. Its proximity to open downland and the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes it popular for walkers and those wanting countryside close to the capital.
