The Wrythe is a suburban ward in the London Borough of Sutton, lying between Sutton town centre and Carshalton Beeches. Its name comes from a small local stream and the area is largely residential, with a mix of inter‑war semi‑detached housing, later council estates and pockets of green space and recreation grounds that give it a quieter, village‑like feel within outer London.
Locally there are small parades of shops, community centres and decent transport links into Central London by rail and bus, making it popular with commuters. Traces of earlier market gardening and light industry survive in street patterns and building types, and the ward has a socially mixed population with active neighbourhood groups and local schools anchoring community life.
