Ravensbury is a ward in the London Borough of Merton, on the south‑west fringe of London, taking in part of Mitcham and a long stretch of the River Wandle. The area is notable for the riverside corridor and Ravensbury Park, with mill ponds, wetlands and footpaths that form an unexpectedly green and wildlife‑rich pocket amid suburban streets.
Historically the Wandle drove local industry, and vestiges of that mill heritage sit alongside largely residential neighbourhoods with a mixed housing stock and a diverse local community. There is an active interest in river restoration and conservation, and the ward’s proximity to central London brings ongoing development and commuting pressures balanced by the value residents place on the parks and community facilities.
