Chiseldon sits just south‑east of Swindon in north Wiltshire, tucked against the rolling chalk of the Marlborough Downs and within easy reach of the M4. The surrounding downland and farmland give the parish a rural feel, with public footpaths linking into long-distance routes such as the Ridgeway and nearby woodlands like Savernake Forest.
Historically the village grew from agriculture and a nearby military training camp and even had a short-lived local railway connection in the early 20th century, traces of which survive in local place‑names and memory. Today Chiseldon is a mixed commuter and rural community with a primary school, pubs, village hall and active clubs, where small businesses and farming continue to shape everyday life.
