Hyde Werneth is a ward in the town of Hyde, within the borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester. Centred on the Werneth area and close to Werneth Low, it sits on the fringe of the urban conurbation with quick rail and road links into Manchester and views towards the Pennines and the Peak District. The built environment is a mix of Victorian terraces, inter‑war housing and pockets of more recent development, with green spaces and former mill sites giving the ward a semi‑urban character.
Historically part of Cheshire before local government reorganisation, the area grew with the textile economy and many former industrial buildings remain part of the local landscape, some repurposed for housing or small businesses. Today the ward has a mixed social and economic profile, a strong local identity supported by community centres, churches and sports clubs, and ongoing regeneration efforts aimed at improving housing and amenities while retaining its links to both town and countryside.
