Hermitage is a small village and civil parish in West Berkshire, England, set on the edge of the rolling countryside of the North Wessex Downs. Traditionally an agricultural community, it has a compact village centre with the kinds of amenities you expect in a rural Berkshire settlement and plenty of footpaths and lanes that draw walkers into the surrounding downland.
In recent decades the village has become partly a commuter community thanks to its proximity to larger towns such as Newbury and good transport links towards Reading and London, while local social life still revolves around the pub, village hall and periodic community events that reflect its long-standing rural character.
