Stockcross is a small village in West Berkshire, England, a few miles west of Newbury set on the gentle downland of the North Wessex Downs AONB. It lies close to the chalk-valley of the River Lambourn, which gives the surrounding landscape its characteristic dry valleys, beech belts and patchwork of arable fields and pasture.
Although compact, the village has a traditionally rural character and historic cottages and a parish church, and its economy and social life are shaped by agriculture and the nearby equestrian industry centred on Lambourn. Residents often commute to Newbury and beyond, but community institutions such as the village hall and local pubs keep a strong local feel, with the area popular for walking, riding and countryside pursuits.
