Bordon is a small former garrison town in the district of East Hampshire, in the county of Hampshire, England. It sits on heathy, wooded countryside of the upper Weald, with large Forestry Commission woods nearby such as Alice Holt Forest and areas of protected Woolmer Forest, making it popular for walking, cycling and wildlife watching. The town grew around military establishments - most notably the nearby Longmoor and other barracks - and that heritage still shapes the layout and local character.
In recent years Bordon has been central to the Whitehill & Bordon regeneration, which has converted surplus military land into new homes, business space and green infrastructure, aiming for a more sustainable local economy. Today the town combines local retail and light industry with commuters travelling to places such as Farnham, Aldershot and Guildford, while the surrounding heath and forest remain a defining cultural and recreational asset.
