Ferring is a coastal village and civil parish in the district of Arun, in West Sussex, England, tucked on the seafront between Worthing and Littlehampton. Its shingle beach faces the English Channel, backed by beach huts and a narrow promenade, while the small stream known as the Ferring Rife winds inland, creating marshy meadows and a useful wildlife corridor towards the South Downs.
There’s a historic parish church with medieval origins and a mix of older cottages and 20th‑century homes; historically the coast brought trade and the occasional smuggling tale, but today the village is largely residential with local shops, a primary school and active clubs. The economy leans on small businesses and seasonal visitors, and community life is centred on village events, sports clubs and the surrounding countryside and wetland habitats used by walkers and birdwatchers.
