Salvington is a residential ward on the northern edge of Worthing in West Sussex, tucked against the lower slopes of the South Downs. It has a village-like feel with green lanes, bridleways and good views back towards the coast, the most recognisable landmark being the restored High Salvington Windmill, which provides a reminder of the area's rural past and is opened to the public on occasion.
Once a small farming hamlet absorbed into the Victorian growth of the seaside town, Salvington today is largely residential with a mix of housing, local shops and community facilities. It attracts commuters to nearby towns while maintaining active local groups and conservation interest because of its proximity to the downs, giving it a quiet, semi-rural character within easy reach of the town centre.
