Pagham is a small coastal village and civil parish on the edge of Pagham Harbour in the district of Arun, West Sussex, England. The harbour and adjacent saltmarshes form an important nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, prized by birdwatchers for migratory waders and wildfowl; the coastline alternates between shingle beach and grazed marshland, giving the area a distinctly maritime, low‑lying character.
Historically the harbour was once a busier medieval port before progressive silting, and traces of that maritime past remain alongside modern small‑scale fishing, boatyards and a local sailing scene. Today Pagham feels like a mix of quieter seaside community and holiday spot, with tourism, conservation concerns and commuter links to nearby Bognor Regis and Chichester all shaping local life.
