Cocking is a small village and civil parish in the district of Chichester, West Sussex, England, set on the southern scarp of the South Downs a few miles north of Chichester. The village nestles by Cocking Hill and the surrounding chalk downland gives extensive walking and cycling opportunities, with broad views typical of the Downs.
Historically the area was shaped by small-scale quarrying and lime production, traces of which remain in local landscape features, while today the economy is largely rural farming with some commuters and modest tourist activity. Cocking retains village amenities such as a parish church, pub and village hall and is valued for its tight-knit community and easy access to the South Downs National Park.
