Midhurst is a small historic market town in the Chichester district of West Sussex, England, sitting in the valley of the River Rother at the foot of the South Downs National Park. It has medieval origins and a winding high street of period buildings, and is best known for the nearby Tudor-era ruins of Cowdray House, plus the adjoining Cowdray Park polo ground which draws visitors in season.
Today Midhurst combines a tourist and local trade economy - independent shops, antiques, galleries and cafes alongside agriculture and estate activity - and retains a strong village-like community feel with regular markets and events. Its mix of historic architecture, easy access to Downs walking country and an active cultural life make it a popular base for visitors exploring west Sussex.
