The ward covers the adjoining villages of Aldbourne and Ramsbury in northern Wiltshire, sitting between the chalk of the Marlborough Downs and the valley of the River Kennet. It lies within the North Wessex Downs AONB, so the landscape of rolling downland, arable farms and riverside meadows is a defining feature.
Both villages have long histories, with medieval churches and manor houses such as Ramsbury Manor, and a mix of small businesses, pubs and community clubs; Ramsbury Brewery is a notable local employer. The area is culturally active - village fĂȘtes, traditional Morris dancing in Aldbourne and regular community events - and agriculture and rural tourism remain important to the local economy and social life.
