The village and civil parish of Biddestone lies in north‑west Wiltshire, tucked into the shallow valley of the River Bybrook between the market towns of Chippenham and Corsham, within easy reach of Bath. Its compact settlement is noted for honey‑coloured limestone cottages, a village green and tree‑lined lanes, and much of the centre is a designated conservation area.
Biddestone has a medieval parish church and several manor houses and 17th–18th‑century listed buildings that reflect a long rural history; agriculture and small‑scale trades once dominated the local economy, while today many residents commute to nearby towns and enjoy country pursuits such as walking and riding. The parish also includes the smaller hamlet of Slaughterford, and the community retains a strong village identity with local events, heritage groups and an active conservation ethos.
