Bromham, Rowde and Roundway form a largely rural ward on the edge of Devizes in Wiltshire, combining chalk downland, arable farmland and attractive village centres. The Kennet and Avon Canal runs nearby through Rowde, with the famous Caen Hill Locks and towpath walks drawing visitors, while the River Avon and surrounding lanes give a strong sense of countryside rather than town.
Historically the area has ancient earthworks and was close to the Civil War action on Roundway Down, and that heritage shows in parish churches and stone cottages. Today it mixes agricultural and small‑business economies with a commuter population using Devizes, Bath and Salisbury for work, and retains active village halls, clubs and local events that keep a close‑knit community spirit.
