Purton is a large, predominantly rural civil parish in Wiltshire, lying a few miles north‑west of Swindon amid rolling north Wiltshire countryside. The parish contains a village centre together with a scattering of hamlets, and still shows a historic core with an old parish church and a number of traditional cottages and farmsteads.
Traditionally agricultural, the local economy now mixes farming with commuters travelling into Swindon and beyond, while village life is kept lively by community groups, a village hall, local pubs and seasonal events. There’s a strong sense of local identity and history, with traces of earlier settlement woven into everyday life.
