Westbury in Wiltshire is a market town and civil parish tucked beneath chalk downland on the edge of the Salisbury Plain. It is best known for the striking Westbury White Horse, the large hill figure cut into the slopes above the town, and nearby ancient earthworks such as Bratton Camp; the town itself has medieval origins and a notable parish church, St Mary's Church.
Historically centred on cloth and textile trades, Westbury today combines light industry and local retail with a sizable commuter population travelling to places like Bath, Bristol and Salisbury. An important railway junction links it to regional centres, while community life revolves around markets, pubs, sports clubs and periodic local events, giving the town a mix of historic character and everyday practical amenities.
