Alvechurch is a compact ward in the district of Bromsgrove, in Worcestershire, England, sitting on the northern fringe of the county between Redditch and Birmingham. The settlement retains a rural feel despite good commuter links - Alvechurch railway station on the Cross-City line gives frequent trains into Birmingham and to Redditch - and the River Arrow and nearby Worcester and Birmingham Canal add to the attractive riverside setting.
The village has a clear medieval core around St Laurence church and a number of timber-framed buildings in a designated conservation area, and its name is thought to come from an Old English personal name linked to a church. Locally there’s a mix of independent shops, pubs, a strong community life (including Alvechurch FC), small businesses and surrounding agricultural land, so the ward combines historic character with a largely commuter-oriented economy.
