The ward covers the western part of Arbroath and the neighbouring villages of Letham and Friockheim in Angus, Scotland. It blends a North Sea coastal town feel with rural hinterland: Arbroath’s harbour and fishing traditions sit alongside farmland and former mill settlements, while the area lies within easy reach of the town’s historic attractions and the famous Arbroath smokie.
Locally the economy is a mix of fishing, agriculture, light industry and commuting to Dundee, and community life is anchored by village halls, clubs and small businesses; Friockheim’s mill origins and Letham’s traditional village character are still noticeable. The area is represented on Angus Council and has the sort of social mix typical of small-town and rural eastern Scotland, with active schools and seasonal community events.
