Liff is a small village just northwest of Dundee, within the council area of Dundee City in Scotland. It perches on the lower slopes of the Sidlaw Hills, looking out over the arable plains of Strathmore with views towards the River Tay, and the surrounding countryside offers pleasant walks and a typically rural patchwork of fields and hedgerows.
Historically part of the parish of Liff and Benvie in old Angus, the village keeps a scattering of stone cottages and a parish church, reflecting its agricultural roots, though many residents now commute into Dundee for work. It also has a touch of cultural renown because Douglas Adams and John Lloyd used the name in their comic book The Meaning of Liff, but locally the community remains quiet and village‑oriented while being handily close to city amenities.
